Students intending to complete a Bachelor of Arts program in Education Studies must make formal application to the program. 

The following are required for entrance into an undergraduate program:

• a GPA of 2.0;
• submission of an application to program;
• transcript analysis; and
• approval from the Chair of the Education program.

The following is required for Education Studies majors prior to entering the final semester of the senior year:

• a GPA of 2.5 or better

The following are required for completion of the Education Studies program:

• an overall GPA of 2.5 or above; and
• completion of 48 credit hours of coursework (18 credit hours in Core Foundations in Education Studies plus 30 hours concentration areas (15 hours in two areas of interest).

Core Foundations in Education Studies

Courses are non-sequential and may be taken as they fit within the candidate’s course schedule (based on the semester they are offered)

Areas of Interest

Choose two areas and satisfy the requirements.

• Coaching and Physical Education (15 credit hours)
• Poverty Studies (15 credit hours)

  or

Pre-Master of Arts in Teaching track

Choose one content area (15 credit hours) and additional courses from other areas (15 credit hours).  Accepted courses are determined by the student’s Education Studies Academic Advisor and may not be used to satisfy general core curriculum requirements.

• Mathematics (15 credit hours)
• Science (15 credit hours)
• English (15 credit hours)
• Social Science (15 credit hours)
